Social media has its quirks, and Guy Azulay is living proof.
The skateboarder found himself in the spotlight not for his tricks but for his uncanny resemblance to Luigi Mangione. But Azulay isn’t interested in cashing in on this unexpected fame. Instead, he finds it rather amusing.
The buzz started when a video of him skating went viral. It wasn’t his moves that caught attention, but rather his striking similarity to Mangione. Although some even confused him with the man involved in a high-profile case, Azulay took it in stride.
“It’s been a bit weird, but I think it’s kinda funny,” Azulay shared. “I don’t know, of all things to blow up, it’s just because I look like someone else. But, not too mad at it, I guess.”
It all began during a casual grocery trip when someone pointed out his resemblance. But after posting his video, the similarities sparked a social media frenzy, drawing in followers and comments galore.
Despite the offers and suggestions, Azulay isn’t about to change his life’s path. He joked about being a stunt double in a Luigi documentary, but that’s as far as it goes.
Azulay is quite content with his skating and band life, focusing on his passion rather than a career as a doppelgänger. “I think I’m gonna stick to what I’m already doing,” he remarked.
Fortunately, Azulay is doing well with his existing sponsorships, thanks to deals with brands like New Balance and Carhartt. Clearly, he’s handling his viral fame with a sense of humour and grace.
In today’s world, fame can come from the most unexpected places, but for Guy Azulay, his priorities remain unchanged. Trading on a viral resemblance isn’t in his plans, as he’s happily skating through life just the way he wants.
