Michelle Obama didn’t hold back in showing some birthday love to her husband, Barack Obama, on his 63rd birthday.
On Sunday, the former first lady took to Instagram to post a sweet message dedicated to the former president. “Happy birthday to the love of my life, @BarackObama! Here’s to weathering all of life’s storms and moving mountains together. ❤️,” she captioned alongside a photo of the couple humorously trying to push a massive rock.
Many celebrities chimed in to wish the 44th president a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday President Obama!!!🎉🎉🎉,” commented Cynthia Bailey. Chelsea Handler added, “Best couple ever.” Meanwhile, Loni Love shared, “Happy Birthday Prez!!!!! Enjoy your day king!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️.” Actress Debi Mazar also joined the chorus with a heartfelt, “Happy Birthday President Obama! Best couple ❤️.”
The bond between Barack and Michelle has been admired by many. The couple met at a Chicago law firm and exchanged vows in October 1992. They have two daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23. Their relationship, however, hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
Michelle has openly discussed the challenges they faced in their marriage. During a panel discussion in December 2022, she candidly mentioned periods when she couldn’t stand Barack, especially during the first decade of their marriage. “People think I’m being catty saying this. It’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband,” she revealed. “And guess when it happened? When those kids were little.”
Michelle spoke about her struggles while Barack would find time for golf or work travel, leaving her to juggle being a mother and a lawyer. She recalled, “And for 10 years, while we’re trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who’s doing what and what, I was like, ‘Ugh, this isn’t even,’” she added. “And guess what? Marriage isn’t 50/50 — ever. There’s sometimes I’m 70, he’s 30, but guess what? We’ve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30.”
Through thick and thin, the Obamas continue to inspire with their love and resilience, celebrating life’s milestones together.
