Lizzo’s recent podcast appearance highlights her astonishment at being hit with a sexual harassment lawsuit from her former backup dancers.
In a candid conversation on the “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast, Lizzo revealed her shock and hurt over accusations made by three of her former dancers. The claims, including sexual and racial harassment, took the singer by surprise, particularly as the dancers weren’t part of her recent tour, ‘Watch Out for the Big Grrrls’.
Lizzo, known for her empowering music and performances, expressed her disbelief at the situation, noting that these dancers were individuals she had previously given opportunities to. She described the lawsuit as blindsiding, happening at a time when she was living her dream.
The inclusion of sexual harassment allegations in the lawsuit struck Lizzo as particularly painful. She first addressed these accusations publicly on Instagram back in August 2023.
Additionally, another lawsuit emerged soon after, involving wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels, who claimed to have endured long working hours. However, earlier this month, a judge ruled in Lizzo’s favour, dismissing her from this case, although her touring company still faces legal challenges.
Lizzo’s open discussion about the legal battles she is facing paints a picture of an artist caught off-guard by allegations from those she once worked closely with. The legal journey continues for her touring company, highlighting ongoing tensions in the entertainment industry.
