Katie Thurston is sharing her personal journey with her fans, revealing the challenges she faces after her breast cancer diagnosis turned into stage 4 as it spread to her liver.

Katie, known from The Bachelorette, recently updated her followers about her treatment plans. She’s scheduled for six rounds of chemotherapy, targeting the breast cancer cells that have spread to her liver. Each session will take place every three weeks, with travel, infusion, and recovery making up the core of her treatment days.

To combat hair loss during chemotherapy, Katie intends to use ‘cold capping,’ a special helmet treatment. She is also considering a double mastectomy with reconstruction, likely opting for implants or using her own tissue. Her insurance will cover this crucial part of her battle.

In addition to dealing with cancer, Katie just married comedian Jeff Arcuri. His comedy tour means he might miss her first few treatments, but Katie remains positive about travelling to meet him when possible.

Furthermore, they are undergoing fertility preservation. They’ve accelerated their IVF program to preserve embryos, with an oncologist-approved plan that doesn’t affect her cancer treatment. Surrogacy is on the table for when they’re ready for children.

Katie’s cancer battle has shifted her perspective on life and relationships. While some people have distanced themselves, she’s grateful for those who’ve supported her. She’s not afraid, stating,”Scared: 0, Sad: 7, Pain: 5, Tired: 10, Ready: 100.”

Katie Thurston’s courage and determination in the face of her stage 4 cancer diagnosis are inspiring. As she navigates treatment, marriage, and future family plans, her story resonates with many facing similar battles.
