Jenn Tran, before starting her journey on The Bachelorette, wanted advice from someone who had been through similar experiences. Therefore, she reached out to Michelle Young, who had been in a similar spotlight. Jenn shared that she wanted to understand Michelle’s experiences and how she managed the backlash and racism that come with being in the limelight.
Michelle Young, who led season 18 of The Bachelorette, offered Jenn invaluable advice. She told Jenn, ‘There are gonna be haters out there, there’s gonna be racism out there, but know that you’re doing it for a reason and be strong-willed.’ This guidance helped Jenn feel empowered and prepared for the challenges ahead.
Jenn found that she and Michelle shared a common goal: making significant changes both on and off the screen. Jenn mentioned, ‘We’re both in the same mindset in that we both want to keep making change happen. And if we’re the people who are spearheading that, then all the better.’
Jenn previously appeared on Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor but did not find love with him. However, she is eager for another chance to find her true match and appreciates the impact she’s making through her new role. In a March Instagram post, Jenn exclaimed, ‘WHAT A DREAM. I can not begin to explain how grateful I am and how surreal this all feels.’ She added, ‘Growing up I never got to see anyone who looked like me lead their own love story on TV. To be able to inspire a generation of people to be proud of their culture is something I’m so grateful for.’
Explaining how significant this opportunity is, she noted, ‘This is so much bigger than myself.’ She expressed her excitement for the upcoming journey and said, ‘I am so incredibly excited for this crazy adventure to find my person and I can’t wait for all of us to laugh and cry together.’
Jenn Tran’s journey premieres on July 8, promising an inspiring season ahead.
