It’s time to start buying into the Cooper Flagg hype if you haven’t already, because NBA star Jaime Jaquez Jr. has given him a glowing review.
Jaquez Jr. recently played alongside Flagg this summer and was thoroughly impressed. According to Jaquez Jr., the high school phenom is the real deal.
Flagg, who is the No. 1-ranked high school player in the 2024 class, teamed up with Jaquez Jr. to help prepare America’s men’s national squad for the Olympics in early July. During this time, Flagg put on an absolute show.
Witnesses in the Las Vegas gym saw Flagg repeatedly score against big names like LeBron James and Steph Curry. Jaquez Jr. added more hype to Flagg’s rising stardom when we caught up with him at LAX this week.
“He’s an incredible talent,” said Jaquez Jr. “Incredible player. Great person.”
There’s even talk that Flagg could be as promising a prospect as Victor Wembanyama or even James when he enters the NBA draft. Jaquez Jr. thinks that’s certainly possible. “We’ll see,” he said. “There’s only one way to find out.”
For now, Flagg is set to kick off his freshman season at Duke in the ACC. Expectations are understandably sky-high, but based on his recent play with the United States select team, it seems likely he’ll meet them.
All eyes will be on Cooper Flagg as he takes his next steps in the basketball world. If his recent performances are anything to go by, he’s got a bright future ahead.
