Jade Carey, a member of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, unexpectedly lost her balance during her floor routine at the Women’s Gymnastics Qualifiers. The 24-year-old gymnast later explained her fall, revealing she had been feeling very unwell.

Carey told Olympics.com, “I just have not been feeling well the past few days and haven’t been able to eat or anything.” She wanted people to know her fall wasn’t due to nerves but to her poor health at the time.

The gold medallist from the Tokyo 2021 Olympics said she had no energy and felt disoriented during her routine, leading to the mishap. She assured her supporters that there was a genuine issue affecting her performance that day.

Despite this setback, Carey’s spirit remains high. She expressed her pride in her team’s accomplishments so far and stressed that they’re not done yet. On Instagram, she wrote, “Not the day I was expecting to have, but I can’t thank you all enough for the love and support.”

Carey has had her fair share of challenges. She previously opened up about battling the “twisties,” a condition where gymnasts lose control mid-air. “It’s something a lot of us go through,” she said, describing it as frustrating but a part of the sport. She handles it by going back to the basics until she feels confident again.

Carey is determined to show that she and her team are stronger than ever, emphasising the importance of giving it their all at this year’s Olympics.

Jade Carey’s fall was a result of poor health, not nerves, but her resilience and team spirit remain unbroken.
