Ice Spice, the “Barbie World” rapper, faced an unexpected reaction from her fans during her performance at the Rolling Loud Europe festival in Austria.
During her Sunday set, Ice decided to close with her collaboration with Taylor Swift, “Karma.” As Taylor’s voice filled the air, the crowd responded with a disapproving display, giving the thumbs-down gesture in unison.
Despite the negative response, Ice Spice remained unfazed. She blew kisses to the audience and stood by her song choice, refusing to let the reaction dampen her spirit. “Ice isn’t here for fans disrespecting her BFF Taylor Swift—no matter where she is, or what she’s doing!!!”
The collaboration, released last year, had been well-received elsewhere and was even nominated for a Best Pop Duo Grammy. However, it was evident that the Austrian crowd wasn’t impressed by the Grammy nod.
Interestingly, Ice and Taylor performed “Karma” together during the “Eras” tour stop in New Jersey, where they received a much warmer reception. Clearly, opinions on the collaboration vary widely depending on the location.
Adding a twist to the tale, Ice Spice was later seen enjoying her time in Europe despite the festival setback. She and UK rapper Central Cee were spotted at a hookah lounge in London, sparking dating rumours and creating more buzz around her upcoming album, “Y2K!”
Ice Spice’s unwavering support for Taylor Swift and her spirited performance show that she’s not letting a few boos get her down. Whether the crowd is cheering or jeering, Ice Spice is here to stay.
