Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’ family is in turmoil after his widow, Allison Holker, shared personal details of the late dancer’s private life.
In a recent memoir, Allison Holker opened up about her late husband, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss. She revealed gritty secrets and his struggles, including issues like drug addiction and its impact on their finances.
The revelations have not sat well with Boss’ family. Feeling blindsided, his mother Connie Boss Alexander and brother Dre Rose expressed their dismay in an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings.
“We were surprised by the public campaign around her book. We should not learn about such matters from the media,” said Dre Rose reflecting the sentiments of the family.
They were particularly upset about learning certain details through public channels. These include journal entries penned by Stephen himself that detailed personal struggles. The family believes some details have been cherry-picked.
There were also financial revelations. Holker spoke about how Stephen’s reckless spending on drugs had left a financial mess. This portrayal of Stephen has prompted strong reactions from his family who feel this version of events is misleading.
Allison’s memoir, titled ‘This Far: My Story Of Love, Loss, And Embracing The Light’, wasn’t shared with Stephen’s family prior to its publication, leaving them to learn alongside the public.
The family is not only angry at not receiving an advanced copy but also for being bound by a non-disclosure agreement, restricting their ability to talk openly about his life.
Connie Boss Alexander has publicly criticised the memoir, vowing to protect Stephen’s legacy and defend his honour, urging people not to believe the allegations as presented by Holker.
Meanwhile, Stephen’s stepdaughter Weslie defended her mother, explaining that NDAs were requested during Stephen’s funeral to protect his privacy, which was misunderstood by many.
Despite the intentions of protecting privacy, the family felt constrained, unable to react freely due to the legal bindings post his death.
Holker also defended her decision to include sensitive details in the memoir, stating it helped her process what Stephen was going through, allowing her to understand the man she loved on a deeper level.
The sharing of Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’ private life struggles by his widow has caused a rift with his family, leading to public denouncements and defensive statements from both sides.
