Barbie and Oppenheimer Dominate the Box Office in Second Weekend - Haunted Mansion Falls Short

Barbie has exceeded expectations, bringing in an impressive $93 million in its second weekend at the North American box office. This puts the Greta Gerwig-directed film on track to become one of the best second weekends ever for Warner Bros. It has also made history, falling just 43 percent in its second week. Domestically, Barbie has earned a total of $351.4 million so far.

Oppenheimer is also making waves with its second weekend numbers. The film collected $46.2 million, making it the biggest second weekend ever for an R-rated movie. This puts it ahead of Deadpool, which brought in $43.5 million. Director Christopher Nolan can celebrate another success, as this film has become his sixth biggest film to date. With a worldwide total of $400.4 million, Oppenheimer is proving to be a hit with audiences.

On the other hand, Disney’s Haunted Mansion did not find the same success as Barbie and Oppenheimer. The film opened to an estimated $24-$25 million domestically, which is disappointing for a Disney live-action remake. Directed by Justin Simien, Haunted Mansion is a horror-comedy adaptation of Disneyland’s attraction. Despite a star-studded cast including Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, and Tiffany Haddish, the film failed to capture the attention of audiences. With a global tally of $33.3 million, it still has a long way to go to recoup its $150 million budget.
