Scarlett Johansson found herself unexpectedly becoming part of the comedy at SNL’s Weekend Update when her husband, Colin Jost, dropped a cheeky joke about her.
During the Christmas Joke Swap on December 21, Colin Jost read a naughty joke about his wife Scarlett Johansson, written by his co-host Michael Che. The joke referenced Costco removing roast beef sandwiches: “But I ain’t trippin’. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.” Cameras caught Scarlett backstage, mouthing, “Oh my God!”
Colin quickly added, “No, no, I’m just playin’, baby,” adding laughter to the mix: “You know I don’t go downtown.” Scarlett appeared shocked, but viewers loved the segment and found it hilariously funny, praising Colin and Michael’s comedic chemistry.
Scarlett, 40, and Colin, 42, have known each other since 2006 when Scarlett first hosted SNL, and began dating in 2017. The couple shares 3-year-old son Cosmo. Scarlett also has a daughter, Rose, from a previous marriage.
Johansson has mentioned before that Jost often runs jokes by her for SNL, and she usually predicts which ones will land the best. Despite her reservations, Colin’s comedic style often surprises her.
The actress acknowledges Colin’s mischievous side, saying it keeps things interesting between them. The playful interaction on SNL is a testament to their dynamic relationship.
They’ve been married for four years, and their moments together, whether on-screen or at public events, always seem to charm fans, adding layers to their public personas.
The light-hearted moment on SNL showcased Scarlett and Colin’s fun-loving relationship, proving once again why they are one of Hollywood’s favourite couples.
