Kim Kardashian sheds light on how her “fight-or-flight” personality impacted her relationship with an unnamed ex.
- During The Kardashians’ season five finale, Kim revealed why her relationship ended.
- She sought therapy, which helped her realise her behaviour’s influence.
- An epiphany about her calm demeanour also played a significant role.
- Her 2016 Paris robbery experience came up in the discussion.
Kim Kardashian believes in following her own timeline and not bending to others’ schedules. On the season five finale of The Kardashians, she explained this mindset led to her breakup with an unnamed ex.
Encouraged by her sister Kourtney, Kim went to therapy. It was there she realised her “fight-or-flight” personality affected her romantic relationships.
“When someone tells me not to do something that I planned on, I physically get, like, ‘You’re getting in my way,'” Kim shared. She further added, “I will bulldoze whatever is in my way because you’re not going to tell me to change my schedule.”
She recalled how her ex, whose name was censored, advised her to take a break from work. Kim’s reaction was, “You work so much, why don’t you just take a week off?’ I’m like, ‘Get out of here!'” This, she noted, was the beginning of the end.
Another significant insight came during her therapy sessions. Kim realised her calm demeanour is actually a “trauma response” from her 2016 Paris robbery, where she was held at gunpoint.
Speaking to her sister Khloe, Kim revealed her therapist’s observation. The therapist felt Kim was “so desensitised to trauma that you are literally frozen in fight-or-flight.” This calmness worked during the robbery but later made her less emotional.
Kim acknowledged this calmness “saved my life” during the robbery. However, it let others take advantage of her or made her robotic with no emotions.
Kim now sees that she has been “running away from dealing” with her trauma by keeping herself busy.
Kim Kardashian’s revelations highlight the deep impact of past trauma on her present relationships.
